I'm a software engineer who just graduated and is now working in the field of video game development. Awesome, right! Don't try to talk me into spilling the beans about what game I'm working on. My lips are sealed! I'm a 24 years old guy and from as far as I can remember, I loved playing video games ...

Just got a fresh batch of CIB games!

I've been looking through the NintendoAge for a while now. Finally, I came across few ads that interested me, but I never was fast enough to snag a deal. Finally, I did manage to buy 5 Super Nintendo games complete in the box in excellent condition.

Game C I B Bought Value
Breath of Fire 10 7 8 $50.00 $55.00
Donkey Kong Country 10 9 9 $30.00 $40.00
Legend of Zelda, The: A Link To the Past 10 7 8 $60.00 $60.00
Mortal Kombat 10 9 7 $10.00 $20.00
Mortal Kombat II 10 9 9 $10.00 $20.00

The near mint games of my SNES collection

It cost me 160$ dollars, excluding shopping, for near mint games. I didn't overpay any of them, which seems to be new for me, and some might be even worth more since they are in such great condition. Few of them are missing the cardboard tray but it's easy to buy some and add them to the boxes. Also, it's important to note that none of them are player's choice edition.

With those additions, I now have duplicate cartridges for three games. I might try to sell them in a near future in order to make a buck or two. Until then, I might take a break from game hunting for a bit. In only one month, I went from 2 bad shaped games to around 28 good conditioned games so I'd say I did a good job, for the moment.

Play Time Is Over!

Next up, my Playstation starter collection.

I never actually owned a Playstation console, but I gathered some games over the years and played them on the second generation console. I bought all of them used, except for Final Fantasy VII which I bought new for 30$.

Game C I B Value
Final Fantasy VII 9 9 4 $20.00
Grand Theft Auto 5 8 4 $4.00
Metal Gear Solid 8 - 6 $20.00
Project - Horned Owl - - 6 $2.00
Resident Evil - Directors Cut 3 7 6 $15.00
Resident Evil - Survivor 9 9 4 $15.00
Silent Hill 6 6 6 $32.00
Twisted Metal 2 5 5 4 $8.00

Playstation collection

All games are in good condition. Some have few scratches on the box and few have a crack on them. All of them are working, except the original game disk for Resident Evil : Director's Cut. When I bought it, for some reason, it was freezing at the main menu. I'll have to double check that.

Here comes a big pack of games!

I saw this ad on Kijiji in my area. 600$ for 18 sealed games where most of them were near mint. I gave it a try and managed to lower the price down to 400$. I thought I'd made an extremely good deal. Turns out that probably those games weren't factory sealed, but resealed. Still, most of them are in really good shape.

Game C I B Bought Value
Al Unser Jr.'s Road to the Top 10 10 8 $15.00 $12.00
Bill Walsh College Football 10 10 8 $10.00 $6.00
F1 ROC 2: Race of Champions 10 10 8 $10.00 $12.00
Hardball III 10 10 9 $10.00 $8.00
Hit The Ice 10 10 9 $40.00 $45.00
Justice League Task Force 10 10 9 $55.00 $30.00
Kyle Petty's No Fear Racing 10 10 8 $20.00 $12.00
Madden NFL '94 10 10 9 $5.00 $7.00
NBA All-Star Challenge 10 10 9 $10.00 $8.00
NBA Jam 10 10 9 $25.00 $25.00
NFL Quarterback Club 10 10 9 $10.00 $8.00
Olympic Summer Games 10 10 8 $20.00 $16.00
Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure 10 10 8 $25.00 $20.00
Pro Sport Hockey 10 10 7 $10.00 $8.00
Star Trek Deep Space Nine: Crossroads of Time 10 10 7 $30.00 $16.00
Star Trek: The Next Generation: Future's Past 10 10 7 $30.00 $20.00
Turn & Burn: No Fly Zone 10 10 9 $15.00 $12.00
WCW Super Brawl Wrestling 10 10 7 $60.00 $40.00

So yeah... basically I went into this thinking I was buying brand new games. Turns out that after the deed, I learned that probably most of those games were resealed. How do I know? They are all sealed the same way with a seam line on both larger sides and one on the small side. Most of Super Nintendo game don't have that much lines. Even if the games are in really good condition, I overpaid for some of them. About 100 bucks over the actual value of everything, sadly. But, I guess I learned my lesson the hard way.

Overpriced resealed games

As you can see, all the games are, at least, in solid condition. With this condition, I assume that the cartridge and the inserts are mint condition. So I paid 400$ for about 320$ worth of games. If those are actually new, which I don't think they are, they should valuate around 500 bucks. I have few rare games like Hit The Ice and WCW Super Brawl Wrestling which should take value as time goes by.

Still, those are high quality CIB so I'm not pissed about the transaction. It just shows that again, I need to research more before buying.

Ohhh what a nice deal!

I went shopping with my girlfriend. Every time we do this, we have to stop to video games shops if we see one. That's the deal if I'm going in all the clothing shops. So we stopped in an EB Games, which is basically the same thing as a Gamestop, and as I was browsing the games, I saw a copy of Uncharted 3 for 20 bucks. I could not resist!

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception

I have both the first and second game and from what I heard, this one is the best of the three so it was an easy decision. Right now, it's sealed but not for long for obvious reasons. I don't know if the deal will stay, but they are clearly making place for the GOTY edition. I strongly suggest you get one before they go out. For that price, it's a good deal.

Yeah...

So... I saw this game, one I've never seen before. I thought it was rare and that the 20$ tag was a steal. Was I wrong. The Adventures of Mighty Max was not the bargain I thought it was.

The Adventures of Mighty Max

Everything looked good from the outside, but it was not what I expected. The game is rare, but is not worth as much as what I paid when it's complete. The shape of the game is not that good which explains my regrets.

Box

The box has some normal tear in the corners but the cover has some folds that are visible. There are even the marks left by a big round sticker in the top right corner. That's why I give the box an average score of 5 out of 10.

Cartridge

The cartridge is in good condition, except for the back. There's a big sticker on it, probably from a location store. I cannot remove it or it will tear the back label in the process. For that reason only, I can only put a score of 5.

At first, I thought it was complete except for the cart holding cardboard, but there's no manual. 20 bucks for an average box and an incomplete game. Still, maybe one day, when I won't be able to find a better version of this game, I'll be happy with my purchase.

Hey guys!

So... I took my first trip to the biggest flee market in my region. I managed to put my hands on some games. Some of them are boxed Super Nintendo games!

First flea market pickups

I bought everything for 85 bucks from two different stands. I saw some other rare games, but they were very overpriced for their condition. I saw a Chrono Trigger cartridge with the label torn out with a price of 80$... No thanks! I must admit, for a first time, I overestimated some games. Here's the list of my pickups :
Game C I B Console Bought Value
Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest 9 7 6 Super Nintendo $25.00 $20.00
Ultima VI: The False Prophet 9 - 7 Super Nintendo $10.00 $8.00
Warlock 9 8 7 Super Nintendo $10.00 $10.00
Nightmare Creatures 6 - - Nintendo 64 $5.00 $4.00
Fear Effect 9 8 8 Playstation $20.00 $8.00
Fear Effect 2 - Retro Helix 3 7 7 Playstation $15.00 $10.00

SNES games

I went even with those. The boxes were all in good conditions so they were worth it. Ultima does not have anything to hold the cart and no manual which is bad cause its value is not what I paid for.

Fear Effect games

I admit that I did a bad move on this one. I got emotional cause I loved this game. The first one is in really good condition, but still not worth the 20 bucks. The second one is good for the case and manual, but the disk have huge "VOID" sticker on them and it's badly scratch behind it making it hard to justify what I paid.

Nightmare Creatures

Well, this is another emotional buy. I truly enjoyed playing this back then and I could not resist it when the guy lowered the price to 5$. This is the average price for it so it's not so bad.

Verdict : I need to stop getting emotional around games. I throw out too much cash on games I could get in better quality on Ebay. At least, I saved a bit of money from shipping rates.

Hey guys!

I now have won my second auction on ebay, and for a total amount of 125$, I now own Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars complete in the original box!

Super Mario RPG (CIB)

It arrived nicely packaged with everything : the cart, the box, the inserts and the manual. Everything is in excellent shape, but the box seems a little bit tired of life. The game is selling around 140$ depending on the condition and what's included in the box so I assume I've made a good deal.

Box shots

All around, the box is in really good shape except for one corner that is teared more badly than others and marks on one side of it. A good 6 out of 10.

Manual shots

Manual and other inserts are almost mint condition with no major defect and nothing visible to the normal eye except a small fold on the back. A 8 out of 10.

Cartridge shots

The cartridge is in really good condition. The label is in mint condition but the label on the back of the cart is fading a bit. For this reason, I give it a 8.

Here it is, my first buy over 100 bucks. I actually never played this game, but my friends all told me I should try it since it's one of the best RPGs on the Super Nintendo.
